THE GREATEST OLYMPIAN
Michael. Phelps. Yes, THE Michael Phelps. The greatest Olympian. What. A. Surprise! Say what you want about him (yes, I did too), but he’s truly a strong-willed, determined athlete with powerful influence. Listening to him speak about having no days off strongly resonated with me. I too have that same mindset.
Getting the opportunity to hear him brought me back to the reality of the fact that he’s a down-to-earth human being. I had NO IDEA he would be speaking at our stage; it was an honor. Oh, and an elite member of the Final 5 herself, Aly Raisman, made an appearance.
On the social media side of the Create Stage, they had the social “king” himself, Logan Paul. Along with his partners and Juanpa, they introduced us to their film Airplane Mode. To be honest, this is the most professional I’ve seen Logan handle himself and speak. (Hint: I think Harvard had something to do with it).
FUTURE OF FOOD
Things turned interesting when the discussion on The Future of Food came, with chef Bobby Flay among others. Apparently, restaurants are designing themselves based on lighting for Instagram posts! Crazy. But like in a good way! #DoItForTheGram
SHORT FILMS AND SUGARPOVA
A series of short films followed, including a few from alma mater, Chapman #PantherPride!! I was very proud! Maria Sharapova (pre-scandal), took the stage last to speak on her investments and founding of Sugarpova.
Further exploring Harvard University, a friend and I grabbed a slice of pie. Not the pie you’re thinking of, but pizza! We went to a local place called Otto, which was pretty good pizza for Boston. And the craziest part?! They originated in Maine! The East Coast just knows pizza, it’s an official fact now. And if you can’t tell I’m too much into this… Haha, pizza is everything!
Yes, I was in the presence of Chrissy Teigen and YES, she did see me… LOL, but sadly, I did not meet her or take a photo, I just took a photo of her taking a photo with someone else. Haha.
(P.S. Comment if you literally cannot go a day without watching her Snap story, I’m #obsessed)
THE NORTH END & A TEQUILA BAR
After a much-needed break (a.k.a. nap), I headed back out to downtown Boston, the North End to be exact and strolled through the rich historic Italian streets.
The night ended with a damn good drink and a damn good friend. A native Boston girl, she took me to Lolita Cocina & Tequila Bar, where the margaritas were to die for!! Catching up with her was SO good, just having girl talk and hanging out! You know when you haven’t seen a friend in a long time and you meet and just have the best time?! It reminds you to always stay in touch and cherish those moments.
No question, I’ll be heading back there on my next trip for more than a drink!
There’ll be one more blog post coming, it’ll feature a short-lived exploration of the great city of Boston! Let me know if you’d like me to do an overall summary of everything I learned, including quotes, tips and advice from all the speakers!
Be sure to attend this conference or one like it, trust me, it’ll be worth it. Even if you’re not much of a networker (like me), something good will come out 🙂
